quince

The quince is deciduous. It develops into a small tree or large shrub. It develops three to five meters in height. The leaves of the pear quince are ten centimeters long and more than five centimeters wide.

Thanks to its vitamin-rich and tasty fruit, the quince tree is experiencing a comeback. His home is in the Caucasus. The quince has been cultivated there for more than 4000 years. The name is derived from the Cretan city of Kydonia, today's Chania. The quince tree reached northern Europe in the Middle Ages.

With their high content of pectins, tannins and fiber, quinces are worth gold, especially for the stomach and intestines.
