Figs

The fig tree has been cultivated for thousands of years. Its sweet fruits were already part of the daily staple food in ancient times. Even today, healthy fruit is an indispensable part of everyday food in the Mediterranean region.

Figs are counted as stone fruits. Rich in sugar, protein, minerals and fiber as well as valuable vitamins, figs are a real "health booster". Thanks to their high sugar content, Fe are suitable excellent for drying.

You can recognize ripe, sweet figs by their color. The darker, the softer and creamier it is. It is best to store fresh figs next to each other, but at room temperature for no longer than 1 day. They stay fresh in the refrigerator for 3 weeks.

The best fig season is from August to October, when it is also in season in their growing countries. Dried figs are available all year round.
