Pomegranates

The pomegranate is one of the pomegranate trees. The shrubby tree comes from the Middle East; it was cultivated in Persia 2,000 years ago. Today the pomegranate is grown in many countries with tropical and subtropical climates. The main suppliers are Turkey.

 

When ripe, the pomegranate is yellow to reddish brown Fruit with a leathery skin. The berry fruits usually weigh between 200 and 500 g. They are high in fruit acids, sugar, and potassium.

Pomegranates are available from us all year round. In their growing countries, however, they are in season from September to February. You can store them at room temperature for 2-3 weeks, at 5 degrees and 90% humidity even for months.
